--- Quick preamble ---

Canada was a young country in 1911, only 44 years after Confederation. It was a time of peace and great opportunity for the seven million Canadians spread across this vast land.

Railroads were expanding, automobiles were coming into vogue, new industries were being founded, the use of electricity was progressing and telephones were in common use.

--- The beginning of Robco Inc. ---

The Canuck Supply Company

1911:  The Canuck Supply Company Limited, located at the corner of St.James and St.David streets in Montreal, Quebec, was created to represent The  Anchor Packing Co. in Canada.  Leather belting, hydraulic packings, seals, rings, soft packing and various types of gaskets were manufactured.

1914-1918: The company was active with shipyards and the navy while most managers volunteered for military service.

1918: The company acquired some equipment from The Spartan Machine Co. in order to produce metallic packing products, this became The Metal Products Division.

Robco - Dorchester

1922:  The volume of business had increased to the point where more office and manufacturing space was needed. A search for new quarters located a building at 371 Aqueduct Street, just below Dorchester.
